5 Reasons Why I’m Grateful For My Body PLUS Free Self-Love Workbook!
Our bodies are our home.
Not just today, but for the rest of our lives.
My body image journey definitely has not been an easy one. I didn’t always love or appreciate my body, not the way I do today.
And while I’m not where I’d like to be yet, I don’t hate my body anymore and that’s saying a lot.
I don’t cringe at the thought of going to malls anymore.
I don’t cry in the fitting rooms anymore.
I don’t go looking in the mirror wishing I were someone else, looking other other way.
I’m me. This is me.
This is who I am. Take it or leave it, but I don’t need anyone else to love my body for me to love my body.
Unconditionally, I love my body. But it wasn't always that way.
However, I’m extremely grateful for my body and here’s why.
5 Reasons Why I’m Grateful For My Body
1. I’m grateful for my hands.
My hands that allow me to write in my journal every morning. My hands that allow me to write this blog post to you right now. My hands that allow me to hold hands with and hug my boyfriend. My hands that allow me to open or hold doors for other people. My hands that allow me to hold and eat pizza.
2. I’m grateful for my body.
My body that helps me digest food, especially all the pizza I love to eat. My body that allows me to be close with others and give people hugs. My body allows me to be here on Earth, so why wouldn’t I be grateful for it? Why wouldn’t I love the vessel that allows me to breathe and be present? My body allows me to feel the ground I walk on, to feel the wind in the air, to feel the beauty of life.
3. I’m grateful for my legs.
My legs that allow me to walk to the kitchen, on the beach, across the airport terminal, run around the neighborhood (y’know, just for fun and all ;)), and climb up the stair master machine at the gym. My legs allows me to get to places, both figuratively and literally.
4. I’m grateful for my eyes.
My eyes that help me see the world, the people around me, and myself when I look in the mirror. My eyes that allow me to read the words and writings that other people have written and shared with the world. My eyes are another way that help me connect to the world and the people around me.
5. I’m grateful for my hair.
My hair has always been the one thing I love most about myself. Because of the way it falls and how easily I can put it up in a messy bun. Because of the way it smells when I let my hair down and you can still smell the shampoo and conditioner. It’s hard to explain to people who don’t get it but…I get it.
My body connects me to the world, to other people, to the people around me. It helps me feel grounded, calm, and safe.
Because wherever I go or wherever I am, I know I can always count on my body. It’s taken care of me all these years, and now it’s time for me to take care of it.
