Knowing Your Brand Story: 3 Questions To Ask Yourself
Every brand, whether it’s your personal brand or a company brand, has a story.
And that story is an opportunity to connect with your audience on a deeper and more soulful level. Why are you the one for them?
It’s not just about getting their attention, but keeping their attention as well. Building that long-term trust and relationship.
From the words that you use to the images that show up on your Instagram, all of that tells a story. All of that is branding.
So if you’re feeling a little unclear and confused about your own brand story, here are 3 questions you can start asking yourself.
Creating Your Brand Story: 3 Questions to Ask Yourself
1. What is your brand about?
Is it about helping women improve their lives? If so, how do you improve their life?
- Do you help them become more mindful and aware?
- Do you provide a space for others to live creatively?
- Do you encourage them to share their stories?
Wholehearted Woman is about helping women show up in a way that feels good and looks good too -- whether it’s online, in-person, or just within themselves.
This brand started out as a space for personal growth and community through storytelling and vulnerability. Since then, it’s expanded into personal branding and awareness -- which leads me to the second question.
2. How did you get here?
What brought you here today? We all have a story and a past.
Growing up, I struggled with body image and having low self-esteem. As time went on, my depression and anxiety got worse. It wasn’t until I started going to therapy and changing my mindset (with the help of others) where I started to think differently.
As for vulnerability and honesty (which is what Wholeheart Woman’s been most known for), it’s always been a part of my mission in life.
- To speak the truth -- or at least, my truth.
- To be a whole person -- without seeking or depend on anyone else to complete me.
- To love myself -- instead of waiting for someone else to love me.
And encourage others to do the same.
You want to create a place, where when people go to it (whether it’s your website, podcast, YouTube channel, Instagram, etc.), they’re thinking, “Yes, this person gets me. And I want to know more.”
So think about and ask yourself how people are going to resonate with your brand, your message, your story.
3. What impact are you making?
Our stories, whether we realize it or not, have power.
The power to change someone’s life. To help them realize that who they’ve been does not have to be who they choose to be for the rest of their life. To inspire them to change their own story, if they’re unhappy with it.
My goal here is to encourage and inspire others to be more honest with themselves and with others.
Look, I’m a perfectionist, so I get it.
I understand wanting things to look perfect -- I’ve spent hours choosing a body font for a website before.
But the truth is, life is rarely perfect. In fact, it’s often messy and things take much longer than you thought they would.
Wholehearted Woman is about seeing the whole picture. About telling the whole story. About living your whole life in a way that feels in alignment to you.
Your brand tells people who you are, what you do, why you do it, and how you do it.
Branding isn’t just putting colors and fonts together; it’s also your personality, the way you speak, your core beliefs and values, your mission, the people you surround yourself with, etc.
So, what does your brand say about you?
Hi there! I'm Molly, the founder of Wholehearted Woman.
Be the person you needed when you were younger and share your story, because you're the one who someone else needs today.
